Kakapo writing

Walt:Write a persuasive writing about a new Zealand native bird

Today I will be telling you some traits about the kakapo. First one is the population, second one is the habitat and the last one is the  behaviours of the kakapo. Keep reading to find out facts about this endangered New Zealand native bird.

Firstly did you know that the population is dreadful for the Kakapo. It is only 149 to this day. There are 18,000 Kiwi compared to Kakapo. There are 74 Kakapo in the North Island and 75 in the South Island. The most populated area is Fiordland. A fun fact is  every Kakapo is tracked with a tag and has a different name.

Secondly, I will be talking to you about where the Kakapo lives.. The Kakapo likes to build their bases in Fiordland. Sometimes the Kakapo like to make a hut in Coastal areas. For example most Kakapo are found in there burrows near coastal areas. The Kakapo is threatened by stoats, ferrets, possums and weasels.

Lastly I will talking to you about the Kakapo behaviours. The Kakapo is a nocturnal bird and also has a herbivorous diet, eating seeds, nuts, fruits, berries and flowers. The kakapo is particularly fond of the fruit of the rimu tree and kakapo have been known to feed exclusively on the rimu fruit when they are on the ground. Personally I think this is a really healthy diet for the kakapo.

I hope you have learnt some facts and things about the Kakapo and hopefully you can help to save the Kakapo. I really hope we can raise the population of the Kakapo.
